It’s On My Heart . . .
Someone posed a question once concerning the particular times in my life that caused the most spiritual growth. As a young student in college and seminary I felt it was when I sat under great Bible teaching and preaching . The more I could drink in the better. To be sure this knowledge was beneficial and opened my mind and thinking to truths that had been a mystery to me. But as time went by, what I initially believed was deterring my growth was the catalyst to real spiritual maturity. It was the times I faced adversity.
In adversity I will run to the Lord or drift from Him. I will learn what I would not learn another way. I will answer the question of the certainty of God’s calling. I will get to the bottom and find it is solid. I will learn the Lord is my portion. He’s sufficient; He’s enough. I Thess. 5:24 “Faithful is He who calls you and He also will bring it to pass.” As one put to a friend when asked some of his favorite Bible verses, “I like those places it says “And it came to pass.”
Hold onto His sure word. He is there.
