It’s On My Heart…

It’s On My Heart . . .

On September 4, 1993, Jim Abbott achieved what few major league pitchers ever have: He pitched a no-hitter with just one hand. Born with a stub of a pinky finger at the end of his right arm, Abbott learned as a child in Flint, Michigan, to pitch, field, and throw using only his left arm. Playing for ten seasons, he was an inspiration to disabled children who loved to watch him play.

Jim Abbott said that during his regular seasons he would receive hundreds of letters from kids and he would answer every one of them “because I knew how far a little boy or girl could run with 50 words of reassurance.”

Not just kids! How far can you go when encouraged? I remember well notes, letters, or words spoken that encouraged me through the years. So I ask: Who is encouraging you? Where do you go for encouragement? Who are you encouraging?

The Lord and His Word can be your greatest source of encouragement and give you the necessary fuel to encourage others. Pastors, encourage your people. People, encourage one another and your pastor will be encouraged.

Remember Hebrews 10:24, “Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds.”

Encouragingly Yours,
